李洋選擇用水墨來畫畫是近期的事情，他之所以選擇水墨，是想突破慣有的造型方式對自己的束縛（盡管李洋一直以來就沒有用傳統(tǒng)意義上的學(xué)院造型方式畫過畫，也沒有畫出過傳統(tǒng)意義上的經(jīng)典寫實素描）。一直以來，李洋習(xí)慣使用的造型方式總讓他感覺到“束縛”。為此他曾經(jīng)做過蒙眼畫畫的行為藝術(shù)作品，從而體驗超越既往視覺程式的繪畫感受。現(xiàn)在，為了繼續(xù)突破這種“束縛”，他從零開始，從頭學(xué)習(xí)國畫水墨技法，想借助一種較為生疏的繪畫材料和繪畫方式來繼續(xù)突破拘謹(jǐn)，他的突破成果就是現(xiàn)在的這些“水墨作品”。
一如既往，李洋在這三件作品中表現(xiàn)出對生存環(huán)境、社會階層、靈魂輪回等一系列問題的關(guān)注。在他的繪畫創(chuàng)作中，這些“嚴(yán)肅”問題被他以一種“輕松”的方式表現(xiàn)出來。畫面輕松了，李陽也在創(chuàng)作中體驗到“輕松”帶來的快樂。
作為中央美院壁畫系的年輕教師，李洋對創(chuàng)作方式的反思，在這條路上的推進(jìn)，所取得的成績，都是引人深思的。
