The confused visual experience has been reorganized, when the oriental art spirit encountered the abstract expressionism and finally unified. In 20th century, the Oriental and Occidental Cultures progress constantly forward to way of combination also correspondence, as the result, the unexpected creation and revolution is found in art form of painting. The soul of creation of the modern artists has been touched by the historical connection, as well as the horizontal comparisons between these two cultures.
Mr. Mio Peng Fei and Mrs Un Chi Iam they were not only cultivated by Chinese culture, at the same time, they were influenced profoundly by Western art concepts. Therefore, in their works we can discover their uniqueness which isthe development of new vision in modern painting ── the combination of traditional oriental art and western painting technique.
His approach to painting, contrary to common practice, springs from free spontaneous impulses, then he would imitate and absorb gists from a wide range of sources and finally produce landscape masterpieces. Emotionally, Mio felt closer to the prominent painter of the Ching Dynasty, Ba Da Shan Ren, Whom he regarded as a spotlessly clean figure with a crystal ethereal personality.
–Jian De Fu (Painter, Theorist)
“Mio’s works indicate a high level of maturity in sense and form, which has made him one of the mainstays of Macau’s modern art. Of course, this is intricately linked with his cultural background.
–Antonio Conceicao (Director of former Camoes Museum)
Our community may well take pride in having an artist who dares to go against the trends by carrying out his belief that ideas can be put into aesthetic practice, which is very unique in the visual arts.
– Antonio Andrade (Artist and critic in Portugal)
In his experiment with new styles, he often treated historical themes with abstract artistic means. He converses directly and seriously with history and tradtion.
Pedro Tseng (Professor at the National Taiwan Normal University)
He overflows of talent and to his intelligence organizes the creativity, to technical and the cultural support of many years of study, of research, and of experiences.
- Carlos Marreiros (Architect, President of CAC)
