美國博物館協(xié)會1990年在解釋藝術(shù)場館的定義時，將“為公眾服務(wù)”作為兩大核心要素之一: “藝術(shù)館不在于它擁有什么，而在于它以其有用的資源做了什么。” 歐洲的博物館和藝術(shù)中心也非常注重藝術(shù)的社會效果，竭力通過發(fā)掘藝術(shù)文化的內(nèi)在價值來推廣普及其人文價值、社會價值以及專業(yè)知識。藝術(shù)場館和大眾生活之間近乎零距離欣賞所產(chǎn)生的自由感和互動體驗，不同于任何想像和轉(zhuǎn)述。親身體會鮮活的藝術(shù)氣息和思想智慧的熏陶是當代都市精神生活的重量砝碼。
在嶄新的世紀，國際大都市北京迅速成為全球最具智慧與活力的藝術(shù)文化中心之一。全中國范圍內(nèi)首次舉辦的“藝術(shù)大動員-24小時藝術(shù)周末”系列活動將聯(lián)動北京城最具觀點、特色和力量的8家藝術(shù)中心，邀請著名藝術(shù)家、公共知識分子、文化管理精英、策展人、思想者、青年意見領(lǐng)袖等等共同參與策劃組織，與最廣大的觀眾互動，拓展人文與生活的多角內(nèi)涵以及豐盛外延。通過豐富的藝術(shù)展覽、特別主題策劃、講座對話、藝術(shù)書店/設(shè)計品店/圖書館、藝術(shù)家工作室參觀、現(xiàn)場音樂/舞蹈/戲劇表演、互動工作坊、藝術(shù)電影通宵夜、獨立雜志派發(fā)等活動形式，與大家分享最具當代性的藝術(shù)體驗 、認知和樂趣，發(fā)掘藝文世界的非凡活力，開拓城市的公共精神空間。
“藝術(shù)大動員”為城市公眾整合各藝術(shù)機構(gòu)的展覽、活動信息，并每次設(shè)定一個“共同主題”，特別策劃各具特色的藝文活動，及票價、銷售優(yōu)惠等等。每次“藝術(shù)大動員”合作場館舉辦的展覽參觀導(dǎo)覽、文化藝術(shù)活動時間總量累計超過24小時?；顒优e辦前，觀眾可在各場館免費領(lǐng)到活動指南，根據(jù)各自的愛好興趣，自行創(chuàng)意編排精華的藝術(shù)大餐，邀請默契同好、親密家人共赴藝術(shù)周末的藝術(shù)漂流、精神旅行。

2010年3月6日(周六)10時 - 2010年3月7日(周日)17時首次活動的共同特別主題策劃：藝術(shù)館建筑參觀走進藝術(shù)館，建筑是觀眾看到的第一件“藝術(shù)作品”。了解藝術(shù)和藝術(shù)館，先從了解它的建筑開始。8家位于不同城區(qū)的藝術(shù)館成立于不同的年代和背景，不僅建筑空間各具特色，或古典，或當代，更有深意的是建筑的文化內(nèi)涵以及背后衍射的城市故事及其歷史進程。觀眾通過展館特別安排的導(dǎo)覽、與建筑設(shè)計師的對話，一定會收獲很多驚喜，體味北京厚重而多元的文化生態(tài)。

自2002年成立以來，今日美術(shù)館收藏各類當代藝術(shù)作品近5000余件,收藏品類達數(shù)十個，藏品幾乎囊括了所有當代著名藝術(shù)家的作品，今日美術(shù)館永久陳列展，借展出海內(nèi)外著名華人藝術(shù)家，如蔡國強、徐冰、方力鈞、岳敏君、汪建偉、展望等人的作品，努力呈現(xiàn)中國現(xiàn)當代藝術(shù)的發(fā)展過程及現(xiàn)狀。
Since its foundation in 2002, Today Art Museum have collected all kinds of contemporary art works of nearly 5,000 pieces, with dozens of categories reached, The collection encompasses works of nearly all the contemporary artists today. 像打量人生一般去觀看我們周遭的事物，韓旭成的作品從菜園里一棵簡單的大白菜開始，通過描述它的生長與湮滅，發(fā)現(xiàn)輝煌的背后才是事物最美的部分，由此，韓旭成逐漸建立起自己的藝術(shù)敘事風格。在他的作品中，事物原有的物質(zhì)屬性被異化了，內(nèi)在的符號重新構(gòu)建藝術(shù)家對欲望、工業(yè)化和大眾傳媒的認識。本次展覽希望給我們呈現(xiàn)的，就是這些令人震撼的物象之中沉淀下來的、藝術(shù)家對于物欲社會的思考。
The subject of Han Xucheng’s paintings is often a simple cabbage. By depicting the process of a dying vegetable, Han excavates the essential beauty of the subject which is often ignored by us. In his paintings, we perceive the decayed vegetables turning into pure jade-like images, which reflect issues of contemporary society such as desire, industrialization and media explosion. It is through this unusual expression medium, Han Xucheng developed his own artistic language.

Over the years, Wang Jianwei has been exploring the interdisciplinary influence on the contemporary art. Besides discussing Wang's art works in the lecture, Today Art Museum also invite the poet, writer and film director Zhu Wen as a guest speaker to have a crossover conversation with Wang Jianwei and to share the interesting topics among time, theater and exhibition.

The second semester of Art Education Program for Migrant Children is about to start on March 6. By then, 60 children from three migrant children school in Beijing will come to view the Today Art Museum exhibitions, and enjoy fun games. We welcome children from more families to participate in.
