宋莊美術館成立于2006年10月6日，位于北京市通州區(qū)宋莊藝術園區(qū)內，共占地5000平米。宋莊美術館共兩層，內部包括展廳、學術報告及放映廳、辦公室、A計劃藝術品商店和藝術書店等。室內展廳的最高處挑高達到16米，是迄今為止中國的美術館中室內挑高高度最高的。宋莊美術館主要舉辦當代藝術的展演活動，進行國際當代藝術交流，并通過這些展覽，關注中國當代藝術的發(fā)展動向和最新思潮，推動中國當代藝術與國際文化藝術的交流。

藝術批評家栗憲庭先生出任首任館長。

2012年5月，方蕾女士出任宋莊美術館館長。

Song Zhuang Art Center is located in the Song Zhuang Art Community, Tong Zhou District in Beijing. The project was initiated and organized by the eminent art critic Li Xianting in 2004. With financial support from the local authority, the construction of SZAC was successfully completed in Oct. 2006, and the center has since been open to the public. Li Xianting was appointed to be the director and continues to hold the position at beginning. Fang lei is currently the director at SZAC. The main part of this two‐storey art center occupies a land area of 5000 square meters. It consists of three exhibition spaces, one auditorium, one screening room, offices, Plan A art store, storage space and a art book store.
