本色美術(shù)館坐落于中國蘇州，是陳翰星先生私人投資興建并由專業(yè)團隊經(jīng)營管理的非贏利藝術(shù)文化機構(gòu)，主要致力于推廣中國當代藝術(shù)在試驗性方面的探索，并試圖在多種藝術(shù)形式上進行跨界的積極嘗試，涉及繪畫，雕塑，裝置，行為藝術(shù)，攝影，錄像，建筑，設(shè)計，音樂等方面。本色美術(shù)館以“二十一世紀的東方美學(xué)”為主要學(xué)術(shù)方向，通過策劃主題展覽，舉辦學(xué)術(shù)講座等各種途徑，發(fā)掘當代中國，乃至亞洲地區(qū)的藝術(shù)新力量，梳理突破傳統(tǒng)的藝術(shù)新思路，力求多角度，多層面集中展現(xiàn)中國及亞洲地區(qū)當代藝術(shù)的整體風(fēng)貌。

    本色美術(shù)館與本土及世界各地的藝術(shù)機構(gòu)建立長期溝通與合作關(guān)系，定期進行互訪及展覽合作，增進彼此的互相了解。其中駐館藝術(shù)家計劃給來自世界各地，尤其是中國本土的優(yōu)秀青年藝術(shù)家提供了創(chuàng)作，溝通及展示的平臺。

    本色美術(shù)館位于運河畔，依水而建，占地面積13畝，主體造型為三個立方體相連而成，外立面用100多萬塊青磚凹凸拼貼而成，青灰色質(zhì)感使整個建筑氣勢內(nèi)斂而又飽含張力，與周邊河流，湖泊，民居等自然生態(tài)相得益彰。

    作為對外開放的公共藝術(shù)空間，本色美術(shù)館擁有超過8000平方米的展覽空間，在功能上有明確的區(qū)域劃分，包括入口大廳、主題展區(qū)、影像廳，辦公區(qū)、藝術(shù)家工作室及公寓、會員俱樂部、咖啡廳、藝術(shù)品商店等?？臻g之間巧妙連接而相對獨立，適合大展及主題個展。環(huán)保概念與風(fēng)水學(xué)在建筑理念中充分凸顯，古木、老磚的大面積應(yīng)用使整個建筑古樸自然，傳統(tǒng)元素與當代觀念在這里完美結(jié)合。

    本色美術(shù)館第一期主體工程于2008年底建成并對外開放，二期藝術(shù)廣場正在緊張籌備當中，預(yù)計兩年內(nèi)完工。
 

    The True Color Museum Introduction

    Located in Suzhou, China, the True Color Museum is a non-profit contemporary art space
The museum exhibits new developments in the Chinese contemporary art world, presenting works across disciplines and in all media, including: architecture, design, music, painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, etc. Inspired by the mission to foster an “Oriental Aesthetics of the 21st Century”, True Color Museum aims to discover and present the new power of contemporary artists from China and Asia though exhibitions, education and other art related activities.

    The True Color Museum has established long-term relationships with many domestic and international art organizations. The Artist in Residence Program of True Color Museum provides an active platform for promising artists from China and aboard to create new works, exchange ideas, and display their talents.

    True Color Museum’s main building lies along the grand canal and perfectly combines both traditional and contemporary elements. The over one million ancient bricks, which cover the surface of the building, are full of cultural power and historic heritage. True Color Museum enjoys a total space of more than 13,000 sq meters with 8,000 sq meter exhibition area. The other facilities include a reading room, art shop, and café & restaurant.
