本次展覽匯集了藝術(shù)家高嫣Rebekka Steiger過去六年的作品,呈現(xiàn)了她不斷發(fā)展并日臻成熟的創(chuàng)作脈絡(luò)。作品中充盈著具象的主題與抽象的動(dòng)作,它們循環(huán)往復(fù),出現(xiàn)于畫面之上,繪畫風(fēng)格和視覺語言如此多樣,唯有在細(xì)致的觀察下,各幅作品之間的聯(lián)系才逐漸了然。個(gè)人化的表達(dá)、抽象的構(gòu)圖、具象有時(shí)似乎蘊(yùn)含象征指涉的內(nèi)容,都在藝術(shù)家的技法實(shí)驗(yàn)中逐漸成形。
通過為畫作命名,高嫣重新審視并回顧了那些她原本不能立即歸類的內(nèi)容,并賦予其清晰的語境。最近,這位藝術(shù)家開始圍繞某些標(biāo)題編織更多的故事。在這些“標(biāo)題故事”中,高嫣用語言表達(dá)了一些在畫作中不一定直觀可見的元素,但這些元素與特定的作品有著緊密的聯(lián)系:可能是因?yàn)樗鼈冊(cè)谧髌分熬痛嬖?,或是在?chuàng)作過程中伴隨而來,抑或在后來為作品尋找富有聯(lián)想的標(biāo)題時(shí)被添加,比如一段真實(shí)的個(gè)人經(jīng)歷、一個(gè)當(dāng)代的歷史事件,或是在尋求資料時(shí)的某個(gè)偶然發(fā)現(xiàn)。
高嫣的繪畫作品并非由觀念系列構(gòu)成。同樣,文本不僅可以與相應(yīng)的畫作匹配,也可以與其他作品建立聯(lián)系。這些“標(biāo)題故事”本身就自成一體,是整個(gè)作品脈絡(luò)中獨(dú)立的部分。與它們創(chuàng)作的時(shí)間相反,展覽中的四段文本猶如一個(gè)個(gè)起點(diǎn),就像“章節(jié)標(biāo)題”。正是從這些文本出發(fā),藝術(shù)家才得以將其不同階段的作品加以串連、貫通。
Foreword
This exhibition assembles works by Rebekka Steiger from the past six years. What becomes visible is the webwork of Steiger's growing oeuvre. Strewn with recurring figurative motives and abstract movements, it
is so diverse in style and visual language,that only upon closer inspection the connections between the individual paintings become apparent. Personal expression, abstract formations, figurative and sometimes seemingly symbolically charged content take shape in step with the artist's technical experimentation in her painting.
By giving titles to her paintings Rebekka Steiger re-examines and retrospectively puts in contextual order what she could not always place straight away.Only recently the artist began to further spin stories around certain titles,surpassing mere background information. In these 'title stories' Steiger puts something in words that are not necessarily visible in a painting, yet is still connected to that specific work: Either because it preceded it, accompanied it or else is added later in the process of an associative title search: a real personal experience, a contemporary historical event, a fortunate discovery while looking for sources.
Steiger's painting doesn't consist of a conceptual series. Equally, the texts can not only be matched with their associated paintings, but can be connected to others as well. The 'title stories' become works in their own right, independent parts of the webwork. In a reverse order to their time of creation, the four short texts included serve as points of departure, 'chapter headings', in this exhibition. It is from them that the connecting lines are drawn to paintings from different phases of the artist's work.

高嫣( Rebekka Steiger,1993年生于瑞士蘇黎世)現(xiàn)居住于蘇黎世。她將繪畫理解為一種“心態(tài)”。通過對(duì)形式和色彩駕輕就熟的融合,她發(fā)展出了迷人而強(qiáng)烈的視覺語言對(duì)我們所習(xí)以為常或相對(duì)陌生的事物加以處理,給觀眾以無盡的想象空間。高嫣于2016 年獲得盧塞恩高等專業(yè)學(xué)院(HSLU)美術(shù)學(xué)士學(xué)位。之后,她于盧塞恩美術(shù)館、麥勒畫廊盧塞恩和麥勒畫廊北京、瑞士拉珀斯維爾-喬納Kunst (Zeug) Haus當(dāng)代藝術(shù)中心舉辦個(gè)展,并參加了國(guó)內(nèi)外諸多藝術(shù)機(jī)構(gòu)舉辦的群展,包括深圳美成空間、蘇黎世Haus Konstruktiv、蘇黎世Bromer畫廊、麥勒畫廊盧塞恩、麥勒畫廊阿爾德茨和麥勒畫廊北京。她曾于 2018至2019 年在北京、2022 年至 2023 年在越南胡志明參加藝術(shù)駐留項(xiàng)目。
Rebekka Steiger
Rebekka Steiger (*1993, Zurich) lives in Zurich. She understands painting as a “state of mind”.
In her self-confident fusion of form and color, she develops a fascinating, intense visual language that deals with the familiar and unfamiliar and sets no limit to the viewer’s imagination. Steiger graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Hochschule Luzern (HSLU) in 2016. Since then, her works have been presented as solo exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Luzern, Galerie Urs Meile in Lucerne and Beijing, Kunst (Zeug) Haus in Rapperswil-Jona, and as part of a group exhibitions at Meicheng Space in Shenzhen, Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich, Galerie Bromer in Zurich, and Galerie Urs Meile in Lucerne, Ardez, and Beijing, among others. She spent 2018-2019 in residencies in Beijing, China and from 2022-2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
