上海民生現(xiàn)代美術(shù)館榮幸?guī)黹Z冰的同名個展《閆冰》,魯明軍擔(dān)任本次展覽的學(xué)術(shù)主持。展覽將于2016年6月12日開幕,展出藝術(shù)家的50余件繪畫及裝置作品。
閆冰是中國目前十分活躍的年輕藝術(shù)家之一,在閆冰的創(chuàng)作中,他通常使用的是平凡的、甚至是原始的材料,然而在這些日常之物的表象下,隱藏的是藝術(shù)家對于生命認(rèn)知的溫度。在閆冰的作品中透露出來的情感是復(fù)雜的,其中不僅有閆冰對簡單與樸素的渴求,同時其作品也滲透著感悟和思辨、疼痛和欣喜。在一種“古意”的創(chuàng)作中,閆冰的作品透露出的是一種對當(dāng)下個體經(jīng)驗的深刻思考。
本次展覽將展出閆冰2011年至今創(chuàng)作的作品,包括早期的《箱子》、《泥土與鏡子》,后期的《疼痛的重量》、《愛》以及在2016年創(chuàng)作的最新作品。這些作品呈現(xiàn)了藝術(shù)家創(chuàng)作脈絡(luò)的演進(jìn),其中近一半的作品為首次展出。閆冰將身邊的日常之物以及藝術(shù)家的個體經(jīng)驗混合,轉(zhuǎn)換成了藝術(shù)家對精神性的追求。在他的創(chuàng)作中,情感是其藝術(shù)實踐的起因和動力,然而藝術(shù)家卻將所有的情緒隱藏在了作品形式的內(nèi)部。閆冰曾經(jīng)的勞作生活形成了他的價值判斷,而泥巴、農(nóng)具以及家鄉(xiāng)重要的農(nóng)作物小麥和土豆則成為了他主要的圖像形式和觀念母題。閆冰并非是單純的現(xiàn)成品挪用,而是在這此基礎(chǔ)上,予以一種形式的改造和美學(xué)的重組,甚至他親力親為的制作方式本身都承載著某種經(jīng)驗和觀念。閆冰通過調(diào)動材料的物質(zhì)屬性,構(gòu)建了一個新的視覺或空間場域。這種與現(xiàn)實之間的距離,使得作品本身生發(fā)出一種強烈的儀式感和紀(jì)念碑的性質(zhì)。
閆冰的作品在揭示自然或鄉(xiāng)土之神圣根源的同時,也是在重啟藝術(shù)本身及其所在的當(dāng)代語境中的一種自然和神圣。藝術(shù)家的思考和行動誘使我們?nèi)ブ匦掠|摸和認(rèn)知這個世界原本自然的屬性——用閆冰自己的話說,它是一種性感、內(nèi)斂、天成和神圣。
展覽將持續(xù)至7月10日。同期還將呈現(xiàn)另一位藝術(shù)家周嘯虎的個展《地上》。
關(guān)于上海民生現(xiàn)代美術(shù)館

閆冰, 1980年生于甘肅天水,2007年畢業(yè)于中央美術(shù)學(xué)院油畫系,現(xiàn)工作生活于北京。

Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum is pleased to present Yan Bing, solo exhibition of artist Yan Bing. With Lu Mingjun, curator, critic and associate professor at the Fine Art College of Sichuan University, taking the role as academic moderator, the exhibition to be open on June 12, 2016, will feature over 50 paintings and installations by the artist.
As one of the most active emerging artists in China, Yan Bing is known for his ingenious use of ordinary, even mundane and rough materials. What lies underneath the surface of the ordinary is the warmth and depth of his perception towards life. Emotions revealed in Yan’s works are complicated: the longing for simplicity and plainness in mixed with speculative contemplation and joyful bitterness. Overwhelmed by a sense of “classic aesthetics”, Yan’s work radiates insightful reflection upon and exploration into individual experience in the contemporary context.
The exhibition features works produced by Yan Bing from 2011 till now, including early works such as Box, Earth and Mirror, The Weight of Pain and Love as well as new works produced in 2016. Half of the exhibits are put on display for the first time, casting new light on the evolution of the artist’s practice. By mixing everyday objects with his own individual experience, he manages to imbue them with the passion for exploring further on the spiritual level. In his work, emotion plays the role as both the trigger and the driving force for his artistic exploration; nevertheless, the artist in the meantime also strives to conceal all the emotions behind the works. The days he spent laboring in the field have a lingering influence on him, leading to the fact that mud, farm tools and crops like wheat and potato are featured in his work as key images and concepts. More than a simple appropriation of ready-mades, Yan Bing’s approach endeavors to achieve a kind of transformation in the form and reconstruction in the aesthetic sense. It could even be said that his “do-it-yourself” approach in itself reflects certain experience and concepts. Through the mobilization the physical properties of materials, he manages to construct a new vision and spatial field. The distance between such and the reality implants his work with a strong sense of ritual as well as monumental nature.
While trying to cast light on the sacred root of the nature and the homeland, Yan Bing’s work also inspires a kind of new nature and sacredness from within art and the contemporary context in which art is embedded. His action and reflection lure audience to perceive and get in touch with the world and its natural properties– or in his own words, its sexiness, restrainedness, harmony and sacredness –in a new light.
The exhibition will run through July 10. Chimera, solo exhibition of Zhou Xiaohu, will be on view during the same period.
Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum
Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum is sponsored and funded by the China Minsheng Banking Corporation, which is an non-profit organization mainly establishing varies types of activities that engaged in art. It is also the first public welfare organization in context of financial institutions in Mainland China. It is based on the study of Chinese modern and contemporary art. With an international perspective, closely reflecting the trend and the status of Chinese contemporary art, and actively promoting the communication and cooperation between Chinese contemporary art and international cutting-edge art. Minsheng Art Museum will collect and exhibit the outstanding artworks from both in and out of China; also, it promotes different forms of international communications to support the academic research. Meanwhile, Minsheng Art Museum will conduct multiple forms of education programs of art and aesthetic to the public.
About the Artist
Yan Bing (b. 1980, Gansu Province) graduated from Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. He now works and lives in Beijing.
